I am delighted for this opportunity to introduce a new Bed and Breakfast in the Walkers Glenn area off Limberlost Road called Algonquin West. It has always been a dream of mine to purchase a bed and breakfast and just such an occasion occurred late last summer/early fall here in Huntsville. At the time my neighbours had recently sold their house and we had the idea that we might find something that was better suited to our lifestyle.

I contacted Rick Wearing & Sandra Parrott from Royal Lepage Lakes of Muskoka and they came over with a comparison presentation and a suggested asking price. Rick & Sandra did mention that they thought our house may sell quite quickly and for far more then I had originally thought. Because I was hesitant to list without any idea of where we were going to move to, we started to hunt for a property with possible income potential. At the same time, we were getting ready to list with Rick & Sandra who were arranging all the details – including pictures, videos and detailed descriptions.

It was fairly early in the process that we viewed Algonquin West which was then called Algonquin Mists. It has a very unique layout where the bed and breakfast suites for guests have their own entrances.  This really appealed to me. Also, the main living area was beautiful with cathedral ceilings and very original woodwork. Another thing that attracted us was the beautiful lot and impressive views of Peninsula Lake. I grew up working in the tourism industry in Niagara before moving to Huntsville and the thought of opening my own Bed and Breakfast was very appealing.

After that, things happened very quickly. We put in a first offer for the bed and breakfast and at the same time we completed everything to get our present house listed for that Friday.  On Saturday during the day, we had several showings and that evening sold our house for over list price and purchased the bed and breakfast. Rick & Sandra were amazing through the whole process.  Incredibly professional, completely trustworthy and super knowledgeable.  We couldn’t have done it without them. This is our 5th home purchase and Rick and Sandra were by far the best real estate agents we have ever worked with in all capacities.

Over the winter, we have been renovating the two main guest suites that have completely private entrances on either side of the home.

In Yellow Birch, you enter at ground level into quite a large area with a full living room, fireplace, breakfast bar, queen bed and a private bath with soaker tub. The room is decorated in the most luxurious pine furniture with that Muskoka appeal. It comes with mini fridge, Keurig and microwave plus you would enjoy breakfast basket delivery every morning. It also boasts a private two-tier deck that overlooks the forest and our deer trail.

In White Pine, you enter through a door on the southeast side of the house and go up two small flights of stairs to an incredible loft space. It has a queen bed, a gorgeous reading nook and a pine counter with your Keurig, microwave, mini fridge and supplies. The room also provides a large fireplace and French doors leading to a private balcony overlooking the forest and Peninsula Lake. It has a private bath with shower and guests would receive breakfast basket delivery every morning.
